Sküt The Artist

A design, marketing, and branding whiz with quite the artistic pedigree, Sküt (Scott Lewallen) has been in the game more than 15 years, creating killer identities that make products really pop in the marketplace, designing fun mobile apps and user experiences that people love to use, and creating unique pieces to express his love for art.

As an artist, Scott goes by Sküt and has been featured as a local creator at the WeHo In Paso Exhibition (shown regionally in Paso Robles, California, and at home in West Hollywood City Hall). SKÜT has also held solo exhibitions at The Other Art Fair in Downtown Los Angeles, and featured a two month residency for World Pride 2019 at the V Wine Room gallery venue in West Hollywood. Sküt formerly led TAG Gallery Vice President in the Miracle Mile district on Wilshire in Los Angeles, CA.

You know Scott best as original designer and Co-Founder of Grindr, the world’s largest gay social network. After Grindr’s 2009 launch in Los Angeles, Scott became Senior Vice President of Product and Design. He directed product development, UI/UX, and design at the Hollywood headquarters for both Grindr and its sister app Blendr, using his hallmark creative prowess to create everything from the iconic logo and addictive user interface to catchy notification sounds. His leadership and team efforts defined the brand and helped Grindr grow into the world’s most popular gay mobile app, with 6 million users in 192 countries, as well as a highly profitable and well-recognized technology business.

After Grindr, Scott returned to the world of consulting, via Mezic Media his boutique consultancy, which has covered projects for a variety of industries, including health and fitness, entertainment, technology; and is keyed into niche audiences, including the LGBT community. Scott’s other career highlights include stints as Art Director at E! Entertainment, Creative Director for Atlantis Events, and brand consultant for Sports Research and its flagship Sweet Sweat.

Born and raised in the beach cities of Southern California, and long time resident of West Hollywood, Scott is, by his own admission, a gay geek. He also happens to be a University of Southern California alumnus (USC Annenberg School for Communication) and overall nice guy whose favorite things include art, technology, skyscrapers, football, beer, nature, and celebrating his native city and home in Los Angeles.

Scott currently resides and works from his home studio in West Hollywood, and can be reached on Instagram, Facebook, and X, at @inkedbyskut.
